Tracking SEO results in luxury marketing

How long does it take to see SEO results in luxury marketing? This is one of the most common questions our luxury marketing experts are asked before executing an SEO strategy.

The answer isn’t always simple. How long it takes to see SEO results depends on multiple factors, including your domain’s authority, the competitiveness of your chosen keywords, and your budget. Some SEO experts say results can take from four to twelve months, whereas others state it starts on day one. SEO in luxury marketing is typically a long game that requires careful planning and consistently executed SEO strategies.

A consistent and well-implemented strategy will yield results that can be reviewed and analysed using different search tools such as Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Moz and Semrush (and others in the market).

An SEO strategy is different for each brand; however, the desired outcome will always be the same,  to see higher-quality traffic to the site, leading to increased leads and sales as well as increased brand awareness.

Content is king in SEO. This means ensuring your site content and Google Business profile are regularly updated with new and relevant information that aligns with Google’s quality guidelines like EEAT

What SEO results should we monitor?

As we know, SEO isn’t just about keyword rankings. The Google Algorithm is not limited to traffic, click-through rate, backlinks, schema and page speed.

  • Organic traffic: Paying to appear high on Google or other search engines is advertising. If you want to appear high, for example, in positions 1- 4, this will take time and will require on-page work. If you use Google Search Console (GSC) to view the type of traffic coming to your site organically, you can make changes, edits and other improvements in order to drive more traffic to your website.
  • Keyword Rankings: If we see an increase in keyword rankings, then we may also see an increase in website impressions and clicks for both brand and non-branded terms. It is also important to review the click-through rate (CTR). The higher the CTR the higher the quality of the traffic and the more clicks you will get.

Long-tail keywords are important to use as part of your SEO strategy. This is because the users typing in these words are further ahead on their purchasing journey and more likely to convert than those who use shorter keywords. Also, long-tail keywords are less competitive.

  • Click-Through Rate: The CTR is recorded in GSC alongside rankings, impressions and clicks. Metadata can impact CTR and therefore, it is key to ensure the page title and meta description are optimised and relevant as well as clickable to encourage users to click through to your site.
  • Backlinks and Brand Mentions: A Digital PR campaign should generate more brand mentions, exposure and links to your site. Good quality and relevant backlinks are key. Always prioritise quality over quantity, which will help your site rank over time. Having interesting and relevant content on your site will mean other companies are more likely to link to your site
  • Search Engine Results Page (SERP) Visibility: Schema markup can directly impact how your site appears in the SERPs. FAQs and How-Tos also remain a vital SEO content strategy.
  • Page Speed: A website that loads quickly will gain more traffic than one that is slow, as Google is focused on the user experience. A site needs to load quickly and render well on both desktop and mobile. If you have been working on improving the page speed of a site by optimising images and reducing unused JavaScript then you should see a difference when running page speed reports.
  • Conversion Rate: This is important to track what visitors are doing on your site. Are they filling in the contact form, downloading a document, subscribing to your newsletter or making a purchase? This can all be tracked on your site through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. Over time, depending on your goals, you will ideally want some of these measurables to increase.

How long does SEO take to show results?

When you see SEO results depends on what changes you have made to your site, whether you are focusing on tech SEO, one-page SEO, or digital PR/link-building strategy.

“A good SEO agency that understands the luxury niche, or any niche for that matter, should be able to make immediate improvements to your website and give you immediate results in visibility,  as long as they can action their recommendations,” Relevance’s CEO and Founder, Rumble Romagnoli explains.

“More competitive strategic SEO developments and content marketing results could take years to work in your favour. Google and Bing (maybe less so Bard and Chat GPT), will evaluate the site gradually over time and will not usually make significant SERP changes. Three months is a good window to notice substantial movement”

Rumble adds: “New content with great authority can be an exception to this rule, so I have found if we can optimise an already powerful domain/section and the developers collaborate with our SEOs, results can be far quicker; we have even seen results within 10 days.”
