Relevance attends SMX London

SMX (Search Marketing Expo) is the world’s largest search marketing series and so two of us, from the Relevance London office went last week. We are always on the lookout for new and creative marketing ideas and attending events like SMX London helps us stay at the forefront of industry trends.

Industry leads from Google, Bing, top media and search agencies spoke on the latest trends on search engine marketing.

Much of the focus was on the integration of online and offline marketing, such as: cross-channel commerce, beacon technologies and personalisation of service. Increasing trends in voice search, virtual reality, instant apps and progressive web apps were also discussed at length.

We really enjoyed some sessions with Sean Quadlin and Oli Petas, from Google, who promoted the use of Dynamic Search Ads, smart lists and creating an individual campaign for each language. Sean Quadlin used to run the blog, PPC Hero, and there seems to be no end to his knowledge on paid advertising, deftly handling challenging questions from a serious audience.

There was a truly international audience and in the breaks, we met people who’d flown from as far as Arizona to be at this special event. There were stands from other suppliers, such as Majestic, who provide software that analyses backlinks. All in all, we couldn’t recommend SMX highly enough. The next one is in Paris, beginning of June, if you’re interested in going.
