Visitors stood waiting in large numbers early this morning waiting for the show gates to open at one of the most anticipated yacht shows of 2013. The Festival de la Plaisance 2013 based in Cannes on the French Riviera opened its gates at 10am on the dot and yacht brokers, charter companies, boat managers, yacht buyers and many yachting industry people got together for a 6-day yachting festival of everything yachting. A Relevance yacht marketing team was at the show to see what was in hold for the last quarter of 2013 and beyond. Please see more 1st day images on our Google Plus account.
Relevance head to Cannes for opening day of the Yacht Show
It was a sunny day in Cannes for the opening day of the Boat Show 2013, with yacht sales for Hanse pretty much in the first half hour. The show started very quickly with the yachting industry getting together after the summer break. Buyers and then tourists would turn up later towards the weekend.
Cannes Yacht Show concentrates on medium-sized yachts 10 metres to 30 metres, and the Monaco Yacht Show in a few weeks really specialises with the superyachts. Yacht companies exhibiting certainly differ between the two shows with a real exclusive edge reserved for Monaco.
Relevance had the opportunity to visit the new 2600 Fly a 26 metre from Couach at the Superyachts Extension, with its 3 guest cabins and a master. Double access to the fly deck is the unique feature of this yacht which is selling from 4-6 million euros depending on customisation.
Wider increased their presence dramatically this year with a huge stand in the Jetee Albert E.Nord close to the restaurant by Sea Sens and the Club VIP. Also to note on this pontoon was the Dominator stand featuring motorbikes, a supercar, models as well as their beautiful range of luxury motor yachts.
In the Espace Multicoques, Sunreef stood out as last year with their 70 Sunreef Power. Catana also has some excellent multihulls. Oxygen Air 77 at 23 metres was a pleasant addition – check it out if you can.
Sunseeker took centre stage as is usual with a Preditor 68 superyacht as well as MY Black Legend but there are many other interesting models present including the Arcadia 115, and Mangusta 94 for power boat lovers, and some impressive sail boats like the Solaris One 42.
Ribs and power boats are present at the Traversant (a bridge manned by a boat motor to open and close access). The Delta power boat models looked stunning and we even got to have a chat with Kalle Wessel, Director of Sales.
Tomorrow at the Cannes Boat Show we will be heading over to the Jetee Albert E. Sud and Port Pierre Canto to see the larger yachts. Relevance did manage their first drinks of the week thanks to the guys from Yachting Pages in the Espace Riviera who have put on a bar, and have brought out an impressive SYOG edition (including a huge version to show off at the Cannes Yacht Show this year.) Watch out for drinks and networking events thoughout the week at their stand.
Last but not least – look out also for the newest ice breaker from 5th Ocean Yachts revealed today in Cannes.
