Discover Relevance's best SEO events for marketing directors in 2019

Eight Unmissable SEO Events For Marketing Directors In 2019

With countless SEO events taking place the world-over in 2019, all claiming to be the be-and-end-all of digital marketing, it’s hard to know which to attend. As a marketing director, you don’t want a conference that is going to take you all the way back to the start of SEO. You want something that will bring new ideas to the forefront; a marketing expo that will challenge existing SEO theories and give you tangible strategies to try out on your brand.

Relevance understands this. That’s why we’ve come up with our ultimate list of SEO conferences for specialists to attend in 2019 – in calendar order, of course. May your year be filled with great marketing success!

This year’s must-attend SEO events

UnGagged, London, England

This digital marketing expo has built up a reputation as the rebel of the SEO events world, priding itself on its controversial conferences. There is no need to worry that you’ll see more of the same ideas here, and with soundbites of the event banned this could be your only chance to see headliners such as Aimclear owner Marty Weintraub or large-scale SEO expert Bastian Grimm deliver such thought-provoking speeches. Hence, if you want cutting-edge online marketing ideas for your business, there’s no better place to come.

A 3 day conference, packed full of enough networking events and masterclasses to keep you very busy, this year’s UnGagged will cover topics such as SEO, technical SEO, influencer marketing, and CRO. Can’t make this one? Fear not, as there will be another event in Las Vegas in November.

Cost: Tickets from £658.80

Dates: April 1st – 3rd

BrightonSEO, Brighton, England

Twice a year, the biggest names in SEO (including many of the Relevance team!) gather for an explosive digital marketing expo. This April, Brighton will be treated to topics such as how to take a business from zero to ranking in local in a few months, and how to drive big site SEO impact in Google’s new, linkless algorithm. The great thing about BrightonSEO is that whatever your company’s size or age, you can rest assured there will be several SEO events that are relevant to your brand.

Although free tickets have now sold out, you can join the waiting list in case of any ticket returns. Alternatively, you can buy tickets for £100 upwards – well worth it in our opinion.

Cost: £0 – £500

Dates: April 11th – 12th

A marketing expo is the perfect opportunity to upgrade your knowledge

Search & Performance Insider Summit, Captiva, Florida, USA

When SEO is your priority, it is easy to get sucked into search without connecting it to other performance media. However, with search now helping to drive performance marketing metrics, the time has come to expand your knowledge.

This summit by Media Post links everything up, explaining search’s growing integration with accountable media in social, display, email and video. Looking at the importance of consistency in brand messaging across channels, with the greater aim of creating more fluent customer journeys, this 3 day event brings together the finest minds in search marketing for a think tank. Attendees can look forward to strategy sessions, round tables, and afternoon breaks to keep on top of your marketing director duties.

Cost: Summit registration is $3795, but you may be able to get a free ticket as part of the Brand Marketer program

Dates: April 28th – May 1st

DigiMarCon, Various Locations

As the largest digital marketing expo series in the world, this conference offers the chance to hear from some of the industry’s most influential figures in a city near you. Aka, every Marketing Director.

There are great SEO events occurring the world-over

State of Search, Dallas, Texas, USA

State of Search focuses on providing real-world, hands-on digital marketing advice, and although 2019’s schedule hasn’t yet been released, 2018’s is enough to get us excited.  Featuring keynotes such as Purna Virji, Senior Manager of Global Engagement at Microsoft, last year’s set blew attendees away. Spend your days learning the latest and greatest on how to improve your ranking, and your evenings networking with a cool margarita, Texas-style. Attending a marketing expo never looked so fun…

Dates: November 5th – 6th

TechSEO Boost, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

If technical SEO is an area you’re struggling to grasp, then this one marketing expo you can’t afford to miss. After all, technology is marching swiftly ahead and as a marketing director, you need to keep up with the intense pace of change.

As the very first conference dedicated to technical SEO, run by digital company Catalyst, we sincerely hope that this will be a reoccurring event for 2019. Previous speakers at these technical SEO events have included Google, IBM, Airbnb, and you can get a taste of what to expect from the free recordings online on Catalyst’s website. You might not currently be a technical SEO specialist, but rest assured that when you finish here you’ll feel like one.

Listen up - what you hear may impact your digital marketing strategy for the year

SEOktoberfest, Bavaria, Germany

SEOktoberfest comes across like an exclusive club, so popular that you have to apply and be selected before you can even buy a ticket. It also sounds like it could just be one long party, with SEO as an afterthought. However, trust us when we say that it is nothing of the sort. This digital marketing think tank, with a finale at Munich’s Oktoberfest, is an extremely insightful event way to spend three days. SEO lovers and experts from all walks of life come together to discuss new theories that could have a dramatic impact on your brand.

After saying that 2017 would be its last year SEOktoberfest then held a G50 summit event in 2018, leaving us with hope that we haven’t seen the last of these SEO events. However, nothing has been confirmed for 2019 yet – finger’s crossed there is one on the horizon!

Cost: The 2018 event was €6,000 for a newbie ticket, €5,000 for a previous attendee ticket and €3,000 for an expert ticket
